After hearing of the recent suicide of a highly-respected and decorated police officer in my hometown, I started wondering…
If you realized how many people would show up to your funeral, and if you thought about the amazing things they would be saying about your life, would you still go through with it?
My guess is, if you really thought about it, you’d realize what these people see: you have worth, you have value. They see it, and so should you. If you kill yourself, your pain doesn’t just go away. It’s transferred to these people you love. Because they love you.
Think about that. They love you.
Regarding the police officer in Montana, this is so devastating for the family, and it’s heartbreaking for the community. If you’re at the point where you feel like killing yourself is your only course of action, please stop and call someone. If you don’t feel comfortable calling 911 or a hospital or a member of the clergy, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-8255
You can get through this.
